Our Primary Task - Part One

The early Church is described in the Book of Acts, and was birthed by the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost.  Led by the original followers of Jesus, and anointed by God through the Spirit, this original Church faced tremendous obstacles and yet grew with supernatural power! This first Church is really the template for all Christian bodies throughout history. Since Bethlehem UMC would be blessed to rediscover the basics of who and what the Church is, over the summer we will enjoy a series called “RETURN TO OUR ROOTS—A Journey through Acts”.

The Christian Church has existed for two millennia.  The early Church was created by the Holy Spirit, and as such it reflected the character, passion, and purpose of the Lord Jesus. But over the next 2000 years, the church has slowly but unfortunately morphed more into what we want it to be than what God intends it to be.  While it is right and good to adapt the delivery of the Good News to fit contemporary language, medium, and needs, yet do we need to be intentional in maintaining the very mission in which the Lord intended and still intends us to engage. To reprioritize and refocus, come this Sunday to rediscover “Our Primary Task—Part One.”

Bread for Today

Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD, and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones. Proverbs 3:7-8
