Ministries
Women
Bethlehem United Methodist Church’s women’s ministry is geared toward providing women of all ages the opportunity to have fellowship, to study God’s Word together, and to have a mentoring relationship with another woman. We hope that your spiritual life will be refreshed as you find warm Christian fellowship with other women, and as you learn about, experience, and serve God in a fresh new way.
Bible Study
Our vision is a community for all women to study God’s Word in a friendly, non-threatening setting that encourages each to grow in faith. Past studies have focused on women of the Bible, including Mary, Martha, Ruth, and Esther. In 2006-2007, we studied “Breaking Free” by Beth Moore and in 2007-2008 we studied “Daniel”, again by Beth Moore. In 2008-2009, we studied “He Speaks to Me” by Priscilla Shirer; which showed us practical ways to prepare to hear from God.
Groups meet:
Monday evenings (7:00-9:00 p.m.) or
Wednesday mornings (9:30-11:30 a.m., child care provided)
Both groups meet from September through March. Workbooks cost approximately $12. You may join at any time.
Fellowship Breakfast
Periodically, we gather for a Saturday morning breakfast featuring an inspirational speaker. This is a great time to meet new people and catch up with old friends. Guests are always welcome. We encourage you to bring your friends as these are great outreach opportunities.
Our Annual Christmas Breakfast is a delicious full breakfast catered and cleaned up by the men of Bethlehem Church. Our speakers are well known, talented and dynamic Godly women, gifted to encourage and inspire you.
Retreats
We have a Women’s Retreat each year, usually held from Friday night through Saturday afternoon. In 2008 it was in the historic mansion at St. Mary’s of Providence Center in Elverson, PA. In 2009 we held it in our church. Retreat leaders are women in established ministry, beyond our local church. This is a chance to draw closer to God through the teaching, to have a time of quiet prayer, to observe the beauty of God’s creation, and to eat meals that you did not have to prepare!
Moms
M oms O ffering M oms S upport (MOMS) is an international organization founded as a support group for stay-at-home mom’s. Our chapter, however, is not limited to stay-at-home mom’s. Most activities are during the day and kids are always welcome. The club also provides a forum for topics of interest to mothers, helps children in the community, and performs one yearly service project to help needy children.
Meets at BUMC, the last Tuesday of every month, 9:45-11:45 a.m. Contact Linda Shevlin at 610-455-0137 for more information.
